About this work
This large scale collection of porcelain pieces is an artwork about bone forms, often initiated from collected fragments on beaches and hill walks. They are an amazing mixture of original functional orthopaedic structures overlaid with weathered eroded surfaces. Associations can be made with large scale geological structures with holes, water flow marks, wind eroded edges and lichen coverings. Both sedimentary rocks and bones have similar calciferous composition, Bones are at once beautiful sculptural forms and also entirely functional, minimalist pieces of machinery.
This piece was shown at ‘Craft and Biodiversity’ at Royal Botanic gardens, Edinburgh, Peter Potter Gallery, City Art Centre, Edinburgh.
