Weights of Responsibility

2022
Part of International Women’s Day exhibition at Birnam Arts, Perthshire, Scotland. This work draws together of the many visible, invisible, overseen and often accepted ways that as women we are expected to carry extra burdens, and the shape of our lives as we have adapted to survive and thrive. Almost invisible text included ‘encumbrance of niceness’, ‘ballast of having it all’, ‘tonnage of violence’.

12m long installation, bricks, silk ribbon, vinyl lettering, metal hooks.

This exhibition was created alongside Susie Johnston, and Louise Ritchie and curated by Kate Bell.
